Bag of Holding's Secret Compartment

Post by virgil »

When you stick any extra-dimensional space inside another, the inserting space is suppressed. In the case of a handy haversack or a bag of holding, you no longer reach into its extra-dimensional space, but the regular bag itself. What happens to anything put into the 'normal' bag once its magic resumes? Do we have a new storage medium, only accessible when the magic's not functioning? Or does it shift into the other dimension?

Casting Dispel Magic on a Bag of Holding or similar will likewise suppress the magic and allow access to the "regular" contents.

It's a good place to keep important items that you don't want people to find if they search your stuff.

I'd rule that anything in the bag when it reactivated just fell into the extra-dimensional space. In essence, it begins at the bottom of the bag.

I think it's far more interesting if the 'normal space' is only accessible when the magic is suppressed.

Rule of Cool.

I'm stealing it.

You should gain sanity for finding out that the problems of a region are because there are fucking monsters there.
